Default All-Grain - Renbourn Red

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: Safale S-04
Yeast Starter: none
Batch Size (Gallons): 5.5
Original Gravity: 1.052
Final Gravity: 1.010
IBU: 24 IBU
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: 15 SRM
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 days @ 70F
Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): none
Tasting Notes: Strong maltiness fades quickly to hop bitterness and rye spice.

Grist:
6 lbs 8 oz 2-row Pale Malt
2 lbs 8 oz Malted Rye
8 oz Crystal Malt 120L
8 oz Crystal Malt 60L
2 oz Roasted Barley

Hops:
Willamette Hops (4.5% AAU) 60 min boil

Yeast:
Safale S-04

Mash @ 150F for 70min.

Taste notes: This is a spicy Irish red with a strong rye presence. There was a strong malt presence up front that quickly dissolved into a blend of hop bitterness and rye spice.

Appearance: Deep red color with a tan head.

This beer was very popular when I poured it for members of my brew club. Though I brewed it early in the year, I was drinking it during spring and early summer. I suspect I would enjoy this more in the winter, however.
