Tasting Notes
Smooth, nice earthy resiny Fuggles with a complex grain under current.
EDIT: FG was 1.012 ~5.8%ABV

This is my first "from scratch" recipe I created, and it turned out great.

I just bottled this a couple weeks ago, it tastes great, I think it will become one of my "house beers."

6 lb NB Pilsen LME
1 lb Muntons Amber DME

Steeped in 2 gallons at 150-160 for 30 minutes
4 oz Choc Rye
4 oz Caramunich II
4 oz Caramel Wheat
4 oz Belgian Biscuit

Hops
60 min 2 oz Fuggles
1 min 1 oz Fuggles

Boil size 2.5g, batch size 5g.

I am drinking this right now, rather tasty. However, I might make a version with a different hop in the mix, EKG perhaps. The single hop is very nice, but not as complex as the malt backbone. I love it, but if you don't like Fuggles, you won't like it, they come through very strong.

A few more moths in the bottle and this brew is very nice.

Caramel complex undertones mix nicely with the earthy spiciness of the Fuggles.

I left 1/2 of a 22oz open in the fridge over night and the next day the slight oxidization somehow wasn't a bad thing with this brew. It added some sherry notes to it, and the almost zero carbonation really brought out the malt backbone.

Sounds interesting. A few years later, do you have any more thought on this like what would you do different or the same? Would you still change the hop profile?
