All-Grain - Austin Lager
Recipe Type: All Grain Yeast: WLP830 German Pils Yeast Starter: 2L Batch Size (Gallons): 10 Original Gravity: 1.053 Final Gravity: 1.012 IBU: 37.7 Boiling Time (Minutes): 90 Color: 8.0 SRM Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 10 days at 50F Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 30 days at 40F Tasting Notes: Hoppy like American Pale Ale
This recipe was intended as a straight Brooklyn Lager clone, but then I decided to add some Amarillo at the end to give it that Austin Style. The style has been described as an "Americanized Vienna Lager"
11 Lbs 2-row
7 Lbs Vienna Malt
2 Lbs CaraMunich 40
Mash 1L water Per Lb of grain at 150F for 60 minutes
Boil 90 minutes
-60 minutes 1 oz Cascade at 7.5 AA
-40 minutes 1 oz Cascade at 7.5 AA
-25 minutes 1 oz Hallertau at 3.9 AA
-10 minutes 1 oz Hallertau at 3.9 AA
Dry 1 oz Cascade at 7.5 AA
Dry 1 oz Amarillo at 9.0 AA |
