Default Brussels Sprouts and Beer question and Goose Brine!

Hello all, Long time reader, haven't really posted much...

#1. Im looking to make some Brussels and Beer this week and am curious what a good ale would be.

I usually just steam them or saute them with butter and garlic.

#2. I going to be making a goose for Christmas and was told to brine it for 24 hours ahead of cook time so Im also wondering what a good brine recipe might be if anyone has one.

Thanks a bunch!

Can't help on no. 2, but the dec. issue of BYO had a brussels and beer recipe from the guys at Stone if i remember correctly. I don't have access to my copy right now but someone else might be able to weigh in here.
