So, I am 99% done with my rebuild with only one barb fitting on the chiller to replace. I can't wait to fire it up and make some beer. In the picture the system is set up for the chilling whirlpool. :ban:

They are. I got them from a university in Oklahoma for a song. The larger one has been altered and now is direct fire, but the one in the middle, which is the MLT is still steam heated.

The kettle on the right is 60 gallon. The MLT is 40.

The rig has a 2 zone chiller that uses glycol to chill water that runs through an immersion chiller/whirlpool.

How does the steam heated one work, out of curiosity? I've never seen one of these things up close. There's a burner in the bottom producing steam that is circulated around the kettle?

I re-configured it to work without a steam generator. It works a bit like a pressure cooker. The jacket has some water in it, and there is a pressure relief valve for safety. A burner is located in the base and it heats the water to make the steam. It uses a lot of gas but since its a MLT it doesn't need much heat.

Last piece installed! It is now ready! I think Ill make a black IIPA!

It has been fun to build.

Wow - that is incredible. I had heard your rig was pretty cool but pictures do it justice.
Very nicely done.

Exactly - I have been upgrading my system to 11 gallons for over 6 months now.
The anticipation of my first upcoming brew on it here is almost palpable...
I almost dont want to finish building for fear of never having another project that feels like this again. Truly a delight to construct.

I have a pretty sweet plastic mash tun.

Sweet rig man. I wouldn't know what to do with 25 gallons of beer for one recipe.
