Stir Bar Comparison Standard vs Starburst
|
|
Hi HBT'ers
I decided to put a stir bar together and purchased the necessary materials;
I used a 4.5 fan and used only one magnet;
Here is the Starburst Stir Bar loaded into a liter flask;
And here is a stardard Stir bar loaded into the flask;
I decided to get both types of stir bars and thought I would see which one performs better;

The Competion at 4.5 and 6.0 Volts
|
|
The Starbust seemed to have a better vortex at both 4.5 and 6.0V
Starburst at 4.5 Volts;

Starburst at 6.0 Volts;
The Standard seemed a little more apt to throw due to its oblong shape and didn't generate as deep a vortex
Standard Stir Bar at 4.5 Volts;
Standard Stir Bar at 6.0 Volts;
Thanks to all the prior HBT Stir plate posters that I stole the design of the stir plate from.
Cheers

I use the star bar. It works best on my set-up.

The pictures of standard and starburst at 6 volts look identical. I suck at those picture comparison games but did you post the wrong picture for one of them or is it really that close?
