step bits

I need to drill a port in my keggle and I don't have a step bit. Is there a favorite brand or retailer out there that you prefer? Any particular kind of step bit I need to look for to drill a hole for a 1/2" port?

Try Harbor Freight if there is one near you or online.

I'll +1 the above for Harbor Freight. I bought the cheapy 3 piece step-bit set from Harbor Freight and they are still going strong. 3 holes each in two kegs, 1 in a SS pot, and 4 in a new mailbox.

Excellent.. I was just looking at those. Guess I'll stop by on my way home. Thanks!

Regardless of which one you end up getting, always remember - drill slow, plenty of pressure, and plenty of lubricant....
I don't know if that sounded right. Almost makes me think that this post needs to be in the boneyard!

I should get some thread cutting lubricant, but Pam spray has always worked...

Too light most likely. Better than water, but not much. You really need something a little heavier. Even light machine oil works well for drilling.

how does 3in1 oil work?
