I'm out growing my 10 gal igloo mash tun and recently purchased a 15 gal stainless kettle with false bottom to replace it. Instead of recirculating or stirring I'd like to find a way to insulate the kettle once it's reached temperature and the burner is off.

I'm curious to find out what others are using. I'm hoping there is a solution available that will maintain temps with only a degree or two of heat loss over a 60 min mash.

Thanks for any advice you have on this.

I've heard of people using blankets to wrap hp mash kettles. My opinion is that if you're going to use a kettle mash tun you should have a het source recirculating direct fire or indirect fired recirculating HERMS. If you want to do infusion and let it hold temperature use a cooler
