I thought I would share some pics of my Dual Coil Immersion Chiller. I picked up two 1/2" x 25' copper coils based on a tip from the forum for a steal $17 each (THANKS to outside92129!!!). Based on another tip from Palefire, the dual coil was a great idea for cramming 50' of copper under a full boil. This thing is a Killer Chiller! My (4 months) old 3/8" x 20' is down right wimpy next to this beast.

Here is the parts list. I ended up buying locally but it literally took me five stores to find all the right bits. I would have been much better off just buying online as these are much better prices than I paid from Lowes etc.

Thanks for the response. Links are always helpful. I'll have to pick some of these fittings up. I've got garden hose quick connects on mine but have had leaking problems on my last two batches.

Yeah, I was worried about that after I finished it but it turned out to be fine. I didn't measure the exact displacement as I haven't made a gallon marking stick for my pot yet. But eyeballing it's about half a gallon which isn't a big deal on brew day. I have a 32 qt pot so even with 6 gallons left post boil, there is plenty of room for the IC. When I get around to the stick, I can follow up more precisely.

How did you connect the garden hose fitting to the adapter? Only screwed on or is there anything else to make it permanent?

They are screwed on with teflon tape. I guess you could sweat the connection as well though even though it is threaded. You would just need to remove the rubber seal on the inlet before applying the torch. Hmmm, maybe I'll try that. Then again, it ain't broke so maybe I shouldn't fix it. The hose connectors are outside the pot so it even if it did leak, it would not cause a contamination issue.
