Mobile kegerator build thread
So it begins...
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile1.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile2.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile3.jpg The keg will be chilled in ice, dispensed with a paintball CO2 tank and regulator and use a picnic tap for the first rev. A more integrated tap system will come later. I'll update the thread as I go. Questions and speculation on the end product are welcome :) -Joe |
Very cool. Hre is another type of portable Kegerator for 2.5 gallon Kegs: The Brewing Network.com - The-Portable-Kegerator | Beer-Gadgets. It would be nice if you could insulate yours somehow for the real hot summer days. I am gonna try making one out of this bad boy over the winter:

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile4.jpg So first I had to seal the bottom. Turns out I had a pre-cut circle from another project that precisely fit in the hole, popping under the lip and staying in place on its own. 14" egg-zactly. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile5.jpg Then I cut a piece of pink hard foam to fit and used expanding foam to fill the gaps on the sides and hold it firmly in place. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile6.jpg I'll be fiberglassing the inside to seal everything up water tight. -Joe |
Couple more progress pix. Putting the inner liner in place and spacing it out with foam blocks so I can use my expanding foam with the extendo-wand (tm) to start filling in the space. This crap gets everywhere. I wish I could find the two-part pour-in foam locally, but this'll have to do.

Very ingenious! Nice work so far.

And so we continue. Here's the inner liner with the foam sprayed in.
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...or/mobile9.jpg Turning some MDF disks on the lathe. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/mobile10.jpg The disks will seal the top of the bucket. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/mobile11.jpg Does this picture give too much away? ;) http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/mobile12.jpg -Joe |

A few more. Blocking out the round shapes in foam.
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/mobile13.jpg Roughing the shapes out on the lathe. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/mobile14.jpg A double-check that the keg still fits :) http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...r/mobile15.jpg Now I've got to figure out how to do the eyes. -Joe |
Friggin' Awesome. I think that's the biggest thing I've ever seen turned on a lathe by the way
