mash in hopper

This has worked out very well for me in the mash in stage.

Okay, that's pretty cool. I would have to rig it to a ladder or something as I'm brewing on the driveway right now. But, still, cool. Good job. Is that just a funnel for the bottom?

Very interesting...

Can you describe the bucket/funnel/valve set up and build?

Good idea! Thanks for posting it.

Its a 5 gallon bucket with a large funnel and a 1 1/4 inch pvc ball valve. I will post some pictures so you can see how I put it together.

Hopper Construction

How did you cut a clean opening in the bottom of the bucket? Thanks for your response! Bill

You could rig it up as a grist hydrator. That would be awesome- maybe a little overkill for a 5-10 gallon batch.

Guess you never got around to posting those pics on the funnel / bucket build:drunk:

That is neat. I wonder if you could just attach a valve to the flat bottom without a conical shape and then just dump the remaining grains that don't come out. If you used a flat valve then you could still store it as a bucket upright.
