Default Kettle Thermometer upgrade

Hey Guys, this is more of a question then a anything else. I recently bought a Blichmann weldless thermometer from a friend in the hopes of upgrading my no-name thermometer on my aluminium brew pot. However, when I read the instruction on the blichmann i noticed that is says to drill a 1/2 inch hole but my no-name one uses a 7/8th hole. Am I out of luck using the new thermometer is there a way to salvage this? thanks.

Not really as far as I can tell...maybe this is the right time to invest in an SS brewpot?!

Well I don't see a need to upgrade at this time since my pot is a commercial pot with 1/4 thick walls (and I don't want to get into a discussion about the merits of aluminium vs SS) but thanks for the suggestion.
