I built the bar top 2 years ago on top of the half wall between the kitchen and living room. It was considered a wine bar for my wife...then I had to sell the idea of a tap tower on her wine bar. I had a humidor on the wine bar that I moved and put the tap tower in its place. The other way I made it seem like a good idea was buying her a new 24 bottle wine fridge for her birthday (a month early but it worked). I used a Danby 440BL because I have no room for anything taller. I had to remove some of the plastic feet on both fridges to make them fit. Had to cut the tile a little to make the wine fridge fit (I have a few tile left if needed).
I was going to get a standard chrome tower, but I knew it had to look a bit nicer to make "everyone" happy. I used a trex post cover (discontinued color $5 at Lowes!) I paid $14 for the top and base of the tower. Standard chrome faucets (to start) and a free 4# c02 tank. I had to cut the can racks and get the keg door flat, I sealed it with white caulk (ugly, no photo needed). I read a few posts on other tap conversions on this fridge (thanks HBT) to make sure it was what I wanted. I have (2) 5 gallon ball lock kegs and a brand new 3 gallon on the hump in the back filled with water (make your own soda/tonic). The diameter on the 5 gallon kegs is 8.5 and the same on the 3 gallon. With the c02in there it all barely fits. Somehow I don't have a photo of the copper lines coming into the fridge (insulated) ...On to the photos
