Keezer Project

Hey everyone!

I have a ~7cf Holiday Chest freezer that I started to build a little yesterday.

I have had it for a couple of months with a RANCO controller attached and now I want to put a tower and everything on it.

here's what me and my friend did yesterday:

we put on a collar, and wood paneling/woodtop

now I need a tower. I have seen pvc towers and also the box towers made of wood.

I'm looking for someone who has made the towersboxes of wood if you could help me out a little.

also, should I stain redwood or deep dark mahogany? I'm thinking mahogany...

According to the guy that built that one, he says that freezers use the outside panels to radiate heat away from the freezer. Might want to look into that to make sure your not gonna burn your freezer out with the panels so close like that.

Don't know much about the heating cooling aspect of freezers...however, it would make sense to use thin paneling or provide room for air circulation. Has anyone experienced issues skinning a freezer in this manner?

I wouldnt have suggested it. My keezer releases a fair amount of heat from the sides. As for the tower, why not just put your taps in the collar. I have a three tap keezer where I built them into the collar. I have never had a problem with air leaks and less to hassle with.
