Default Interesting Temperature Monitor with SMS

I saw this on Kickstarter today:

Twine : Listen to your world, talk to the Internet by Supermechanical — Kickstarter

Easily programmable module that can SMS you when an event occurs. You could put one in your kegerator and have it send you a text if the temp changes beyond your desired setting.

Or have it tell you when the door is opened... or a host of other sensors.

Looks kind of neat.

Wow they demolished their fundraising goal.

This is a great idea. I wonder if it could text me daily gravity updates from my fermenter...

Another thread about it here: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/poss...spring-284111/

I think it is too limited for brewing apps.

I agree, as a control mechanism I think there are better options, most all of them home built. For example it can't control the temperature of the kegerator, it merely reports.

I see this as filling a niche as a notification agent to be able to monitor sensor states and then send a text message. Though they say it can also output custom http so it could also be used as a data logger.
