Here is my idea for a cheap cooler. It's made out of a big cardboard box, lined with rigid foam insulation and as you can see, its going to be divided by a third or so by a little wall of insulation that goes 3'4ths of the way up, to keep the 1 gallon frozen water jug from a) getting too warm, too fast and b) cooling one part of the carboy more than the other. and i'll wrap a wet towel (changed out daily) around the carboy to keep the temp down a few more degrees... I want 66 f, room temperature 72-74f.
