Well, I just wanted to pass along that Excessive Hoppyness is officially under construction.

My wife and I were able to snag a 14' x 20' out building in order to build a pub/brewery in. I have been working on gather equipment up to move to 10g all grain batches, and materials to work on the building. For Christmas my wife has wired the building, insulted it with 4" R-13 and put up the smoothed OSB board. I do not have any pics of the current progress only my google sketch up rendering of how I hope it looks when finished.

It will also give us a guide to follow since everything to drawn to scale in the pic. (with exception to the brew stand).

I told her to start taking pictures of the progress (since I am not aloud to see until after Christmas). I will post them up after Christmas...In the mean time...

Behold Excessive Hoppyness!

How it could look any way....

+++EDIT++++

Also, I know that pic sucks pretty good but if you have Google Sketch up (it's free) let me know and I will email you file so you can 'walk around' in the 3d environment. I'd love some suggestions also if you have them!

++++EDIT PICS START on POST #20

Your wife wired/insulated/etc the building? ....umm. that's hot.

Right now it's just something I want to do....Have a place to watch some basket ball and brew beer.

However, I could see after developing some sort of following, I could live with the idea, of being a full time brewer for sure. I'd be happy as hell if I can get a small amount of people coming over regular drinking my beer and putting a few bucks in the tip cup, so I could brew for free!

It all started....."You have too much beer stuff in the house, we need to get that out of here!" :rockin::rockin:

I might be out of line here, but I am going to say it anyways

pics of said hammer wielding wife?

This is not hammer wielding. But you get the picture.

Walls, Insulation, and wiring is finished.

Oak Laminate flooring was bought Friday....Not installed yet...

PIC TO COME!

Ok well since we have the floor purchased, I figured it might be better in model to match what is going on.

So he is the rendering currently.

I will get pics up ASAP, for now ENJOY!

We want to go with that "Dry Erase Board" paint on the walls if we can afford it, 1 so I can write brew notes on the walls and 2 so every one can make an addition when they come to visit. But depending on how much the paint cost is a major aspect. Currently have almost $1000 into this and still no bar, tv, fridge, freezer.....

I do have some easy chairs already

After painting, then the floor, I will probably be on hold until tax time and my bonus at the end of Feb.

What's your plan for keeping kegs cold under the bar? It looks like your plan calls for 4-5 faucets, but most keezers I've seen open from the top, which is tough unless a section of your bar will open-up. Kegerators I've seen don't usually hold 4-5 kegs, so are you planning to have two separate mini-fridges side-by-side, and run the lines out the top, through the bar?

I have been planning to do something like this.... walk-in cold room behind the bar, so I can just have the faucets coming out of the wall. Then, my guests AND the bartender can reach the faucets, it keeps the bar nice and open, and I don't have to give up the shelf-space under the bar... Would even give me easily-accessible space for chilling mugs, fermenting lagers, etc... Just saying, in the space where you plan to have your brew-stand, you could wall-off space for a keezer and run the lines through the wall.

See the grey box under the bar?

That was about the best was I could 'draw' it. I am planning on building a box around a chest freezer and turn it into a bar, where the entire bar top is the lid of the keezer.

Update********

Should be getting pics up this weekend....Also plan on painting....When paint is complete, install the flooring.

So....here are the long over due pictures. My wife and I got it painted today, we ran out however on the ceiling. We have to save that for another day I suppose.

Stay tuned!!!!

You know, THIS year we're not going to FL for the winter. Last year, we were in Tallahassee, and I'd have loved to come swing a hammer and a paintbrush (and do some wiring if you needed it). I'm a pretty good handyman, and I work for beer!

Thanks for the pictures, and maybe sometime we'll be spending the winters in your area. This year, the southern Texas Gulf Coast won out, after we froze our butts off in Fl last year!

amazing what some paint and wood flooring can do to a place.

it's looking really good mang

We still have not found a use for the fire extinguishers beyond decoration. They did not have chemicals in them though, just water and vinegar....they are stainless, and hold about 2.5 gal....I will scrub one up really good and see if maybe I can use it as a fermenter!

Are those World Fair beers from the one in Knoxville?

No idea, they are from the 60's and 70's though, they are the old "pop top" cans. My wife and found them at a yard sale for $5. The Busch can on the top shelf if unopened :D

"True Bavarian Lager" (what is says on the can) MY ASS!!!
