Default on demand mash heater (water heater)

Has anyone tried using a 120v under sink water heater to maintain the temp of a mash?

I think i will try to run the output of my mash tun thru a pump and into the input of the on demand water heater.

I am not sure what the max output temp of the heater is though.

You could do a mini hermes system. Use a small pot (or a cooler might even work) with a stainless/copper coil that runs through it, install the water heater to it, set the temperature via PID controller, and have it pump through the coil. I think it'd work pretty well and have a fairly small footprint.

Actually, you could make that mini hermes system a dual purpose by making it a prechiller for your immersion/plate/counterflow chiller. After your mash, dump the water, hook that up to a hose, fill with water, connect your chiller to the output of that and boom! Ice cold water going through your chiller.
