Default Connecting a solenoid to a ETC

So I have my 110/120VAC solenoid from STC valve.com

2W160-1/2-3-D

I also have my 110/120VAC ETC Digital temp
ETC-111000-000

I am no electrician by any means but on the Solenoid there are markings for wire 1, 2 and 3. The manual says for AC connection 1 is hot 2 is neutral and I'm assuming 3 is ground?

I'm just not sure what to wire to what and what gauge wire I should be using. anyone hooked up a similar set up that can give me some advice?
