Brass vs. Stainless
|
|
I'm going to be adding valves to my brew pots and am wondering if there is a real need to go with stainless steel components (I'm doing this the "no weld" method). Brass components are very easy to come by and are cheaper - is there a compelling reason to go with SS?

No, brass is fine for homebrewing.

SS is more durable, but really no difference. Just be sure to pickle your brass first.

How/why do you pickle your brass? Does that use vinegar?

Stainless for valves, and I aspire to brass for testicles.

Since we all know how cool your system looks the better efficiency you should go with all stainless. I personally am switching to an all gold system.

Same goes for Bobby_M's keg polishing. The beer only tastes better if everything is pretty.
