Ok dudes..........I'm getting ready to place my angle iron cross pieces (ala Scuba Steve's rig design) and was wondering if I should go with 2" angle iron over 1 1/2" in regards to strength when heated?

My other concern is how to attach the angle iron to the wood cross piece where, if it gets UBER hot from my jet burners, the wood doesn't start to smolder. Any ideas?

As to size of angle iron - 2" is way overkill. 1 1/2 is plenty big. You could drive a truck over hot 2" and would just melt the tires!

Well, perhaps I exaggerate but I stand by 2" being overkill.
