Default Piraat Ale

The history of this beer is that it is very similar to that brewed to keep on the long voyage as a food suplement for the Flemish freebooters on long voyages.

Letting it warm to it's fullest lifts it fully out of the category of "mere" beer and places it squarely alongside brandy as an after dinner aperitif, along side a good cigar.....This could go head to head against any of the 4 Calvados types of apple brandies, even the 6 year old Hors d'Age...I wonder how this would cellar.

This is what you bring out to seduce a lovely stranger over a game of chess in front of a roaring fire.

Voted overall Best Amber Beer (Gold medal) in the California Microbrew Beer Festival 1995

Grade A+

I found this on the shelf at a local UDABC store today and had to try it. It's a great beer in a really great bottle. I give it a "A".

I found the recipe to this beer in a clone recipe book. It looked like a great recipe and I had to give it a shot before I tried it, but at 18.99 a four pack it just seems like a lot of money to spend. Im tempted to pull the trigger more and more after each review I read.

This beer is one of my favoites, i can only find it in one store in my whole city.I am not of fan of IPAs and even though Piraat ale is an IPA is tastes so good i don't concider it an IPA. It has a high abv that is masked by its complex flavors and aroma. pricey but worthy it.
