Peche Mortel by Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel

Damn this is a fine beer. My first offering from Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel and I am looking forward to the Route Des Epices that I have in the fridge for sometime this long weekend. This beer is tilted towards coffee more than I thought it would (much more than Flying Fish's Imperial Espresso Porter), but still has a great balance.

Appearance: 2 finger dark tan head, pitch black brew, good lacing, 1/2" head persists till the end.

Aroma: Coffee, roasted malt, licorice, subtle alcohol in the aroma.

Flavor: Roasty, coffee, bittersweet chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, but not as viscous as the pour appeared. Medium high carb, excellent.

Drinkability: 9.5% abv hidden everywhere but a tiny bit in the aroma. Would drink this any time of day, breakfast, lunch, dinner, nightcap, etc. The abv will catch you fairly quick, but you definately don't want to stop at one.

Yeah, this stuff is just... absurd. That's all my mind can think of when I am drinking it. I so wish I could brew something even close to this. Anyone have a recipe link for something at styled like this amazing stout?

just back from the brewpub in mtl..
had a bunch on tap, and brought back about a dozen of these in the basement. also have some of the vanilla stout, which is amazing as well.

ill start by saying in NOT a stout guy by any means, and really am not even a fan of chocolate. But this beer is so ridiculously complex. Ive never had a 9.5% beer drink so easy. The mouth feel is just amazing.

I agree this is a fantastic beer. Spendy for me though, around here it goes for roughly $6 per 12 oz bottle.

The quality of this beer is so worth this price to me.
