Oklahoma to be drug into the 20th Century

I'm taking this as great news. I don't think it has much chance to pass this year, but it will return and will make it eventually. That Bricktown area that is referenced in the article has been a political powerhouse and the businesses in that area have been able to get things done.
Do you guys think there could be a negative effect at all from this. I'm mainly thinking of if it causes liquor stores to get out of the beer business. We have some liquor stores with a great selection.
More likely, it will get more people drinking good beer which drive up demand and selection. One thing I couldn't tell was that if they will be able to sell it cold. Our liquor stores have to sell their beer hot right now.
Also, we might even get a trader Joes out of the deal.
things are looking good for me!

You know, I've lived in Massachusetts for close to a decade, and I'll be damned if I can figure out what the friggin' blue laws are around here.
We have package stores all over the place. No beer or wine in convenience stores (I don't think). I always thought that NO supermarket could sell beer, but, some do. OK, maybe it has something to do with how close they are to the border; nope, the Whole Foods in Hadley, not close to any border, has a great beer and wine section. The damn Price Chopper in Pittsfield not only sells beer and wine, but has hard liquor in a separate section of the store (but you still pay for it at the regular registers).
I was always under the impression that you couldn't buy booze on a Sunday, but the packie down the street is open.
I just don't understand how the rules work, and have given up trying.

Oh, and I wouldn't be worried about the liquor stores going out of business. More competition's a good thing, and if a Whole Foods comes into town they'll bring along a damn good beer selection themselves. You can pick up good beer to go along with your organic produce (*dodging fisticuffs*)

Here in PA, no grocery store carries alcohol. Only liquor stores, beer distributors, and bars can sell booze. If you go into a bar and buy a bottled 40, you can't drink it *in the bar.* You actually have to leave. I don't think distributors and liquor stores can be open on Sundays, but they do allow bars to sell it, although I'm pretty sure only after noon. How archaic. We've got such a bug up our ass about alcohol in this county.

Yeah, and lest you think I made a mistake, I put 20th on purpose. We DO have one more century to go.
Our laws are screwy also. Can't sell over 6. in anything but a liquor store, so we get 3.2 BMC at most stores. However, you can't buy 6. BMC even in the liquor stores. No skin off my back just weird. Also, the liquor stores are closed on Sunday's but you can buy any drink you want at the bar or restaurant. The place you would have to DRIVE home from after imbibing. However, you can go in and buy a corked bottle of wine on Sunday.

AZ:
You can buy a single Bud tall boy on ice at any Circle K or AM/PM gas station counter in PHX.
You can't buy alcohol on election day.
Bartime used to be 12 but is now 1AM.
You are supposed to card anyone under 30. If you knew what someone who was 30 looked like, you probably would know what a 21 year old looked like. The whole under 30 logic is flawed.
You can sell water pipes as long as you or the customer do not refer to them as bongs.
Scottsdale just overturned a propostion that would require lap dances to be 4 feet away.
There are state representives whose sole issue is to allow concealed firearms in bars.
Depending on how things pan out in Nov, we may or may not be allowed to smoke in bars, or just some bars, or??? statewide.
You cannot buy alcohol on an Indian reservation... except in a casino which is the best place (I'm told) to buy cigarettes.

There are some stores around that card EVERYBODY, regardless of age. I've seen sixty- and seventy-year old men bitch and groan as they dig into their wallets for photo ID. The logic is that there is no excuse for the clerk to say "well, he LOOKED 21," but my God; another area where all common sense has completely disappeared.

Only been to UT once and ordered a drink at the airport bar. Bartender requested ID; I was 39-40 years old & looking a bit older than 21 but he stroked my pride. He held onto the ID (not my CC) which I thought was strange but perhaps it's an airport thing. Then 70+ grandma sits down next to me; was carded and he held her ID too. That's when I got to asking wazzup and I guess everyone must relinquish their ID whilst drinking at the bar. Did you get that one too olllllo?
