Default LeMerle - Saison style, North Coast

This is my first venture into the Saison style. I put it off for a long time because I didn't really have a handle on the style and wasn't sure I would like it, and there are somany other styles I do like.

Yesterday I really wanted something different. I wanted hoppy, but not an IPA. I wanted malty, but not an ESB or amber and I wanted yeasty but not a Brit yeast.

Bang, a Saison, perfect.

Carbed almost like a tripel and light colored like a tripel, but under 8%BV.

Same character yeast as tripels but not so much in my face, with a really smooth malt almost like a doppelbock, but shorter duration on the palate.

The hops were present, even evident, but not overpowering or lingering. This was a really refreshing beer.

I'll be trying some more Saisons and reading up the recipes, I would like to keep something like this on tap.
