Default Left Hand's Haystack - How old is too old?

I just picked up a 6er of Left Hand Brewing Companys - Haystack Wheat from my local supermarket and noticed the brew date as 09-17-08. Now correct me if I am wrong but most Hefe's seem to be better green and do not age well? I am getting a faint metallic taste in the finish. And I am not sure if thats normal or since the stuff is coming around to 6 months of age. What do you guys think?

It is true that Hefes don't age gracefully. It's also true that it's hard to get German hefes in the US when they're fresh, and I've had many of those I like. I don't know about Haystack. I think these beers tend to lose their "brightness" with age rather than take on metallic flavors.

Your probley right, it must of been caused by something else. Its all gone now anyhow, it wasn't bad enough to dump or take back. I was just curious if it was getting to old for the style.
