Default Italian Craft Beer?

For Christmas, by cousin bought me a bottle of Contessa by Birra Amiata. When I was in Rome, I did see a "birra artiginale" (craft beer) store but it was too far away from my apartment to check out (saw it 3 days before I left).

Anyone have experience with Italian craft beer? I know it's a country known for its wine.

Ah, anche, ciao al tutti gli italiani qui sul HomeBrewTalk!

When I was stationed in Italy about 14 years ago the Italian bartenders when asked for Italian beer would say that it all sucked and hand you a Budweiser instead. However I have seen some craft beer coming out of Italy recently. Been tempted to try some but haven't pulled the trigger yet, I guess there are too many other veers on my short list. I hope it's good, eventually ill pick up a couple bottles myself.

I had a Chocarrubica by Grado Plato at Birreria in Eataly (Manhattan).
It was pretty good.
