Default German's pick Shiner!

kinda funny. my brother works for BASF (you know, they don't make the stuff you buy, they just make it better) and he's working on a special project w/ some guys from Germany and Belgium. they've been in this week and they went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse (which oddly enough, is a franchise out of Indiana or Illinois!) the 2 Germans and the Belgian loved Shiner Bock. kind of made us bow up, thinking a little Texas brewery makes a bock that these true world class beer drinkers enjoyed.

Cool deal. Shiner Bock is much less sweet than a true German Bock kind of a cross between a Bock and some lightness / bitterness / carbonation of a Pilsner. I'm sure they liked the hybridization of the styles.

i thought the same. i figured they'd diss it because it wasn't as malty, or strong as a traditional bock.

how's that 1st all-grain fermenting?
