Default drink it or leave it

hey yall.. Im hoping some with more experience cellaring can give me a little help on how long to leave these guys down in the dark.

heres a cellar list:

1. Abyss '09

2. mirror mirror '09-- 2 bottles

3. Black Butte XXI '09

4. Black Butte XXI '10

5. Stone 09/09/09--2 bottles

6. Lagunitas gnarly wine 09 (hey that rhymes)

7. Burbon County Stout '08

8. Jubel 2010--- 2 bottles

9. Lagunitas Gnarly wine '10--- 2 bottles

What Im wondering is, has anyone recently had any of these.. or, knowing what you know about the varieties.. does anyone have suggestions on the ideal time for each bottle to sit down there.. in other words, whats the sweet spot.

thoughts.

I just opened an Abyss 09 and it was funky. Infected, or something. It was awesome when it first came out. A lot of people have had this problem.
Search those beer names on Google, then read the beer adv threads. Those should get you on the right track.

I think that was a major problem with the 09 Abyss offering.

Very interesting! A month or so ago me and a buddy shared a bottle of the 09, we both noticed it was "off" but he thought he just didn't store it properly. I'm sure he will be interested to know this.

Judging by the fact that it doesn't seem like we were the only ones with this problem I'd suggest drinking that 09 Abyss ASAP! Also had an aged bottle of BBXXI and it was great, so unless there is also a commonly known problem with this I wouldn't be in any hurry to drink it, other than the fact it's delicious of course.

I'm a tad confused about the BBXXI 2010 you mention, did they release more XXI in 2010? The BBXXII that was released in 2010 had an issue and the bottles weren't released, AFAIK. I'd be quite jealous if you managed to snag one from an employee or something, as I had it on tap at the Portland location and I honestly thought it was better than BBXXI

Im thinking that new years will be a good time to crack the abyss. Ill keep you posted on what I find inside (I was thinking I might try to harvest any yeast that might be hanging out in there for a future RIS im planning, but if it tastes funny... maybe I wont go through the trouble).

I have it written down as BBXXI in my book (cellar is the crawlspace under the house, so not super accessable...probably a good thing ). Ill check when I get the abyss out this weekend. It might have been like Jan, 2010 vs. December, 2010. I dont think the BBXX labels have "vintages" on them... Im pretty sure I was just going by the born on date.

ill update.
