My sister is going on a trip to Houston this week and I was wondering what kind of craft beer can be bought there? My favorite commercial beers are hobgoblin, Rickards White (blue moon) and Irish reds, any recommendations on some good craft beer I can ask her to bring back?

There isn't too many craft breweries here in NL so I'd like to try some from the states!

I would hit up D&Q the beer station. their address is 806 Richmond
Houston, Texas, 77006 The guy that owns the place is Brandon and he will let you know the local flavor and what is rare. You should buy some Jester King beer it is a very good Austin farmhouse brewery. Southern Star and Karbach are good Houston breweries as well as Real Ale from Austin. While you are in that part of town you should hit up The Hay Merchant or the Petrol Station both great craft beer bars. There Is really good food to be had at both.

If she's going to be in the Clear Lake Area (think NASA), there's a Shell station at HWY 528 and Black hawk that has a wonderful beer selection similar to Spec's. And yes, before you ask, I did say it was a Shell station. The owner's as big a beer nerd as I've met and stocks his store appropriately.
