Hop City is a great store. They claim over 2000 beers I think. I know they have the best selection I have found as well as a lot of growler fills with a lot of locals. They are also a small homebrew shop.
Hit sweetwater, and if you have time Jailhouse Brewing below Atl and terrapin brewing.

Jailhouse is about an hour south and terrapin is in Athens, depending in how much driving time you have. In addition to Sweetwater, you have Red Hare in Marietta, Monday Night Brewing (great tasting room-highly recommended) and its right down the road from Hop City, which is adjacent to 5 Seasons west side location.

Also consider Red Brick Brewing. Decatur is another part of town with a lot close by(Brickstore, a taco Mac location, BlueTarp, Three Taverns, Twains.

While we don't have all of the fancy breweries of the West Coast, you'll find that the hospitality in most places will make up for it. You can get almost any beer you desire here...Taco Mac will supply most of them...but yes...it's a chain. A great watering hole though. Just pull up a stool any place around Atlanta and you'll find warm people and friendly conversation.

Someone suggested Fat Matts...definitely a stop for good ribs and baked beans. They have live blues also. I live about a mile from there. Blind Willies is also a great place to go for Blues and stroll through Va Highlands for bars and food. We also have Hand and Hand for English fare and beer. George's for excellent burgers and PBR Specials.

Some other mentions are The Eulid Ave Yacht Club & Brewhouse Cafe (in little 5)...Smith's Olde Bar (Ansley), 5 Season Brewing in Sandy Springs. You could even try Mary Mac's Tea Room (Down Ponce from the Fox Theater) or the Colonnade (Cheshire Bridge) if you want to try some "southern" food.

Definitely hit the Sweetwater tour if you can. They make damn fine beer in my opinion.

I tried their Misdemeanor Ale recently at The Family Dog in Va Highlands and I gotta say, it was very good. I'm a Fat Tire fan and this one is right up there.

For a basic wheat, I've always been partial to their Slammer Wheat. Still need to take a road trip to the brewery and visit Barley N Vine while I'm down there.

Just found Barley & Vine website...thanks for turning me on to that! I'll have to check them out some day.

(Sorry didn't mean to side track the thread)

Our Family did spring break there last year. If you are doing museum/aquarium stuff google "Atlanta cit pass" it will save you oodles of dough. I didn't get to go to breweries, but spent a fair amount of time at Taco Mac. You can definitely get a good sampling of beer there. Here's a pic of my kids at the aquarium. As stated, do not pass this up. It is super busy, but set up nicely for the crowd.

Edb,

Leaving town on the fourth, but PM me between now and then and I'll meet you out for a beer during the first part of your trip.
