Default What makes a good beer logo to you?

Open to any and all comments. I'm designing a beer logo for a small micro start-up and want to know what stands out to you.

What makes a beer logo really stand out to you?

You have to know the audience. I think the only time I actually come up with labels is for parties, so I either go for inside jokes or local references. Last year I placed in the BYO label contest with a sarcastic label that seems to still get laughs.

Identity via personal imagination, pure and simple.

Either classy or comical... not both, and no in between.

I like what LGI says.

I would have to add that I like the 50's-era pin-up girls on labels.

The graphics have to be clean looking; an overall nice look. That's more important than the style of the label IMO.

the one thing that does NOT work, IMO, are labels that too closely resemble logos for sports teams.

Tell me what it taste like & the alchol volum. I don't want a picture of a fish unless it taste like fish. Hey but I'm a woman so maybe my opinon is off base for the average buyer.

I like logos that are either in line art or transfer well to line art. It makes it easier to do etched glasses, silk screened shirts and vinyl graphics.
