Default First Ever Label

I made a one pound hops IPA from NB. It will be the first label I have ever tried. I wanted to get some feedback on it. No sugarcoating. Let me have the truth! I can handle it! And what are the usual demensions of a 12 oz beer bottle label?

I think it's a good start, especially for your first label, but could use some improvement. Your font choice is kind of boring to me. Not that you need anything ridiculous, but it should be something easy to read and eye catching. Also, the text's color isn't something that I'd choose. For being the only bit of color on the label, that's going to be the first thing people notice. If it were mine, I'd put "Three Tree Brewing" right above the beer's name. I usually make my labels 3.75 x 5 inches @ 300dpi. I think this has a lot of potential!

The "Three Trees Brewing" font need to go bye-bye. It totally clashes with the rest of the label. I probably would also do away with the shadows underneath those same words. I also second greencoats recommendation to place the brewery name with the beer name. I'll disagree with him on the font color, though. However...

Choose a different color for the outline of the name of the beer. The black is too pronounced. you want to use subtlety whenever possible. you can only have one focal point - either the title or the picture. Here you've chosen both so you've got a bit of a clash for attention. The picture you've chosen is so good, you want that to be the focal point.

Personally, I really like the label. The photo you've chosen is great. The layout is good and overall, i like the feel of it.

BTW, my wife is a very talented graphic designer. So if it sounds like I'm picking up on small details, I've learned from the best. It's the small details that make the difference.

The font choice here is tricky. At first I didn't like it, but it does match the way the trees are blown which is subtle and nice. The problem is the italic fonts work better in subheadings and text fields than in the title. Can you use a bolder non-italic font (try dafonts.com) and maybe skew the words in the direction of the trees? Or give them some perspective maybe?

Also, I would colorize the black and white photo very slightly to complement the color of your font. Keep the saturation so low that it's barely even noticeable.

Maybe.
