Default Art Projects with old labels.

Whenever I delabel commercial beer bottles with oxyclean and they slide off nicely, I have been saving them for some reason. I've just been letting them pile up.

I keep thinking about decoupaging them to something, but I'm not sure what.

I also have a bunch of neat bar coasters as well.

Has anyone done anything with their old labels? I mean some of them are quite cool, or unique, and they represent sort of my beer journey as well.

Has anyone done anything cool with them? And post some pics if you got them.

Great idea.

Reminds me of album art. It would be interesting to save them in a photo binder and
look back through it once you've amassed a good number. My girlfriend saves nice
looking printed material she comes across and then cuts them up and makes collages
sometimes.

Or varnishes them onto the outsides of wooden boxes, etc

It looks very nice.

I have also been saving the ones that come off nice, and also don't now what the plan is. Perhaps bar top under the lacquer. Who knows where they'll end up

I have started sticking my favorites on the front of my kegerator. While they are still wet from the oxyclean soak, I just slap them up on the fridge (it's actually more of a careful, orderly process). There's enough residual glue on the labels that they stick really well and stay nice and flat. So, I'm slowly amassing an easily accessible visual library of my favorite beers! I'll have to start putting some of my OWN labels on there too, I suppose!

A HBT member (mrbowenz) made a bar top by pouring clear epoxy over a decade's worth of collected bottlecaps.

Here are some images:

Pretty freakin' cool.

I know of at least one brewpub round here (The Ship Inn) that sealed odd UK-beer coasters onto their tables with clear epoxy.

Why not give epoxy a try?

Bob

Those are awesome, and I've started saving caps...but I really don't have, living in my loft, a bar or anything cool like that...So I'm stuck with making a wall hanging, unless I do a side table or something...oooh or maybe a lampshade???

Psst!

Here's the product you want to use if you decided to do the flowcoat route.

Environmental Technology Inc.

Residential version of what your local bar/pub/restaurant has on their tables.

Personally, I want to do something like the old Wendy's tables for wall art.

Actually...I do have two of those Mondavi wine gift boxes that I have been given over a couple of christmasses. The ones with the wooden boxes that double as trays...Hmmm......Not a bad idea!!!
