I personally think being vegan would be a pain in the ass. I mean really... NO animal products? What the hell do they eat? Salad and peanut butter their entire life?

It really isn't all that big a deal to eat vegan, although it helps if you really like to cook. Most TexMex can be made vegan, ditto Italian, most Indian food is already vegan. Even eating out, unless you go to an all-American steak house, there are vegan options. There's a lot of noise about balanced protein & such, but B12 is the biggest worry, followed by iron. A homebrew a day covers both.

I have a couple vegan friends and their biggest problem with eating out isn't finding a dish that has no animal products in it, it's finding a restaurant that has a vegan friendly kitchen, i.e, separate pots, pans, utensils that are never used for non-vegan food.
