Default serious problem at home

I've never talked about this before, but I really need someones advice on what could be a crucial decision. I've suspected for some time now that my girlfriend has been cheating on me.

The usual signs... Phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My girlfriend has been going out with the girls a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, "Just some friends from work, you don't know them."

I always stay awake to look out for her taxi coming home, but she always walks down the drive. Although I can hear a car driving off, as if she has gotten out of the car round the corner. Why? Maybe she wasn't in a taxi?

I once picked her cell phone up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.

Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my girlfriend I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her.

I decided I was going to park my motorcycle next to the garage and then hide behind it so I could get a good view of the whole street when she came home. It was at that moment, crouching behind my bike , that I noticed that the valve covers on my engine seemed to be leaking a little oil.

Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it back to the dealer?

Hey... there comes a time when you need to man up and do what needs to be done and I think you know what I'm talking about. Get to work on that bike.

If you're good with a wrench, you should be able to fix it right up. Might even be able to seal it on the outside with some gasket repair/maker compound.

Try putting them both on Craigslist. You may just turn a profit.

You might be in luck. Maybe she's seeing a mechanic.

It's just valve covers. No biggie.

At first I thought you were going to be describing something serious, like replacing the rings.

I've done it before successfully. Cleanliness is imperative, don't let anything get into the engine that isn't supposed to be there. Make sure the sealing surface is dry and use some Permatex to make sure you have a good seal. Find out what the torque specs on the valve cover bolts are and make sure you do a cross pattern when you torque them in several increments so you don't warp the valve covers. Post back on your progress with any questions and so we all know how everything turned out.

Oh, and dump the chick. She's not worth the headache.

I think you are stressing about nothing, a valve cover leak is really quite simple to repair yourself.
As for your girlfriend.... maybe she is cheating with another woman.
If not, then boot her ass to the curb, San Diego is too jam packed with hotties to keep a defective one around.

I think azscoob really summed it up rather nicely; if your bike is under warranty, take it to a dealer and let them worry about it! If not, punt that defective one to the curb!
