I've been thinking about a starter tutorial. I don't think there's one out there that outlines using stirplates, not using stirplates, benefits, airlock?, volume, temp, equiptment (bars), etc.... I haven't found one yet. I don't really have the knowledge to get the job done though. You should do it.
