Default Happy (??) Birthday Canned Beer

SWMBO found this for me. Some of the info is kind of surprising...

On January 24, 1935, the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company of New Jersey sold the first can of beer in the world.

Only 3% of all the beer sold in the U.S. is sold in bottles?

Crappy beer?? They need to jump to the present time. Craft breweries are moving to can because it's a superior protector of the beer. They can be recycled just like a bottle.

If you look at the stats, they state REFILLABLE bottles. Like most stats it is skewed to make a point.

It will probably take more energy to collect, return the bottles to the brewery, clean and sanitize them and reuse them. There is nothing stated about how many bottles OR cans are recycled.
