Those were some of my first thoughts as well when I saw the video. But after reading the article, no one even knew he was in there. And as you can see when he tried to open the doors, there's nothing there.

I can't even imagine what that would be like, to be alone, without contact or entertainment for almost 2 days in such a confined space.

Oh, and if I was trapped in an elevator for a weekend you can be darn sure that there would be some damage to that thing.

It is far worse than that: no one even knew he was in the elevator. It took only about an hour to get him out once they noticed him.

that's why he kept opening the elevator doors: he was pissing down the elevator shaft.

Therein lies the conundrum.

Go ape**** and potentially damage something and put yourself at more risk?

Going ape**** could start a fire, make whatever problem is occurring worse (after all--you have no idea why the elevator is stopped or if the elevator is at risk of falling down), knock out the camera (so noone ever sees you).... any numbe rof bad thigns could happen just going ape****.

Now--- strategic and specific willful damage? Yeah. But carefully considering the potential consequences. And do it sooner rather than later while you still have presence of mind to be in control of your activity and energy to do real damage.
