Default WLP250 Rebel Brewer American Pub Ale Yeast now available!!!!

After many months of tweaking and testing, we are finally confident in announcing our very own house strain.

The Rebel Brewer AMERICAN PUB ALE is a great strain for just about any and all American Ales, making it the perfect house strain. We have tested it on everything from a Rye IPA to a Blonde Ale and everything in between, we even brewed a California Common with it with great results.

We don't have the official lab numbers from White Labs yet, but in our own testing we have found that the attenuation is consistently around 75%, leaving a really nice body on the beer. It shows mildly fruity ale flavors on beers that don't have alot of ingredient induced flavor. It showed a wide range of Temperature tolerance, as low as 58 degrees for the Cal Common we brewed up to 74 degrees for an American Wheat Ale (fruity ale flavors were more apparent at the higher temperatures). It is a true top cropping strain, you will see alot of healthy happy yeast hanging out on top of the krauzen. Flocculation is just above medium but responds well to cold crashing. We also noticed a flavor accentuation, meaning that it seemed to make hoppy beers a little more hoppy, malty beers a little more malty, fruity beers a little more fruity etc. So it's kind of the MSG of ale yeast. But, all in all, pretty clean.

Beer Styles: This strain is great for just about all American ales, making it a perfect "House Yeast"

Click here to be one of the first outside our compound to brew with it, we know you're gonna love it.

PS. We also just got in the new Crop of Falconer's Flight Hops, Falconers Seven Seas (7C's) and Zythos IPA Hop Blend pellets!! Click here for more info on those.

Order placed! Definitely want to make this yeast my house strain, and I LOVE the Falconer's Flight blend...gonna revive my India Red Ale that I made with FF this summer, or something of the like. Can't wait to try the 7C's blend, too! In short, I LOVE REBEL BREWER

Awesome, I love how these new strains pop up from time to time. What is this cultivated from? (wasn't sure if it is a specific brewery cultivar, or how you guys came up with it)

Hey Tom, Thanks for the yeast! It is ripping through a IIPA right now! I will send a bottle your way for taste testing.

I would absolutely accept a bottle of that fine IIPA.

To answer some of the other questions:

This strain is being handled by White Labs, but only available exclusively through Rebel Brewer.

I have traced the origin of the strain only as far back as the Lab at UC Davis, and I've heard a rumor that it was the house strain for a very popular brewery in Ft. Bragg (but don't quote me on that).

Cheers,
Tom
