I just move the hose although a bypass may not be a bad idea.

Got my 8" hop spider basket yesterday. Very nice. Can't wait to give it a try. I think I'll break it in right with a DIPA.

Got my hop spider a week or so ago. 8" 40. Did a pale ale, 5 oz of hops. Some got through but not enough to clog chiller. Nice product but I really feel like a frame is necessary for the bigger ones

Finally got to brew with my 8 inch hop spider yesterday. Wanted to take some photo's but Camera's battery was dead. I brewed and Ipa with 4+ ounces. The spider did really well. Very small amount of hop debree left at bottom of kettle, what did go thru my plate chiller sailed on thu with no problems. Nice pancake of hops at the bottom of the spider.

This is a great product. I would still like some legs designed that could hook around the top of my kettle, so I could get my lid to fit snug during my whilpool after KO.

Ok, after looking at the site then this thread I am a little confused. In this thread, some of the baskets look like they have "arms" like a hop spider or the "hop strainer" on the Stainless website. The baskets on the website look like they have no "arms."

Are most just placing this on the bottom of the kettle? Does it not get bounced around? I need something that will work with a keggle and do an 11 gal batch of iipa. Thoughts? I was looking at the hop strainer but that got really expensive really fast especially with shipping.

Old_El, There are 2 different models... You can get it either way. I went without arms... If I had to do it over again I would get the arms as air bubbles get trapped under it when sitting on the bottom which causes splashing etc when they break free. To solve this I put it in my kettle on an angle...so it's 'leaning'.

With legs if you would like it to hang

Without legs or supports

I just picked up another batch of rings so as of next week shipping should be MUCH better. Thanks for those who are patiently waiting. I should be back on track next week.

Would it be possible to get just the ring with the 'legs' (more like arms to me) on it without the basket? If so, how much would that ring be? Thanks.
