Default New Product: Anti-Foam agent: Non Silicone

ANTI-FOAM AGENT - 1oz.

The CHI Company 376 anti-foaming agent is a 100% active, NON-SILICONE defoamer. Designed for use for food and beverage processing.
It even has Kosher approval.

When comparing products from other stores: BE CAREFUL of other beer anti-foaming agents that contain silicone:
Brewers should not use silicone-containing antifoam for unfiltered beers. The FDA allows active silicone to be used up to 10 parts-per-million (ppm) but stipulates that the silicone must be removed prior to packaging by either filtration or centrifugation.

Our 376 is biodegradable, has no phosphates and neutral pH.

The active chemical is: Dimethylpolysiloxane
Which is:

What is your product made from?

I use baby gas drops. The wiki says PDMS is in many processed foods, even McNuggets, heh.

Do you know what the typical ppm is for silicone drop when used in homebrew?

Do you have the FDA reference?

MSDS for your anti foam please? It's great that it's not silicone, but that leaves so many things it could be...

Yeah, i would like to see an MSDS as well. any product that says not for use around children should have one available.

Is it similar as far as amount used in kettle? 10 drops of the silicone stuff is all I need so the 1oz bottle lasts a while. How much of the new stuff do you need to use?

Hmm, I'd be interested to see how it compares to Fermcap. FWIW, I only need 1 drop of Fermcap in the boil to prevent boil overs. In a 5 gallon batch, I think thats much less than 10 ppm.

The label that is slightly better than no label at all sure is encouraging...

As well as the warning to not use around children...

Yeah, I'd like a little more info about it, such as what it's called, who makes it MSDS, etc.
