New Hop Azacca

Iíve seen a few people posting about azacca, so I wanted to let everyone know that we just got some in! Our initial reaction when we got it was "oooooh yeah!" Really nice citrus tones with a bit of earthiness. First thing we did was brew a SMASH beer with it of course, and we canít wait to taste it :D Click Here to head over to our site and check it out.

Looks interesting, can you post the recipe you used?

Victory just released a 4 pack brewed with only azacca and mosaic...it's outstandingly good and very grape like flavors when combined. This hop should go well in any IPA especially late additions for fruity notes.

Ninkasi did an all azacca as well. I believe it was a Belgian single.

@molson - Here's the recipe (20 gallon batch):

40 lbs. Munton's Mild
2 oz Azacca - 60 min.
4 oz Azacca - 10 min.
4 oz Azacca - WP
2 oz Azacca - Dry hop

Cheers!

How did this turn out?

@bassballboy - It turned out pretty darn good. As expected the malt is nice, but really is just the background to a bright citrus hop character. We dry-hopped 1/2 oz. per five gallons, which was not enough. Next rendition will include at least 1.5 oz. Here are some other notes from the brewer:

Bitterness: Crisp and Clean. Does not linger.
Aroma: Citrus and Pine
Flavor: Very pleasant citrus with a nice resin character adding to the beer's body. Dry-hopping results are encouraging with an overall character resembling Citra.

Cheers!

Hop ranch?
As in grape you mean like white wine grapes?
Did like dirtwolf better.

Sorry for the disrail!

I also liked dirt wolf better but there is just something about hop ranch that I really like. Its an imperial IPA without that traditional IIPA taste (not that I don't like a traditional IIPA). That hop combination is REALLY good. I'm definitely going to look into cloning it at some point. Probably when I run out of the case of it that I bought :cross:
