I've posted the question in this thread but there's zero reply so far. Actually, I've asked more than one time in this thread.
Just sent the same question, yet again, via ebay... MAYBE we'll get an answer, but I won't hold my breath.

I just saw your question. You can exhale anytime you want. The store is open from 10am to 6pm central time. I will have the person in charge of ebay posts answer the question today. Thanks for your interest in the corks.

Still don't have an answer as to what GRADE these are.

So based on the link and the limited info, I would assume based on what Forrest posted these corks are #9 of the 9 grading levels of cork that M.A. Silva produces. Does anybody know if these are "top of the heap" or "bottom of the pile"? I would guess the bottom of the quality scale, but I could not find anything on the website that really helps me.
The price is still right, so maybe...

#9 is the size of the cork. These are not "bottom of the pile" or defective corks. We ordered winery grade corks from them and they sent a different brand than we normally order by accident. I had the option of sending them back for full credit or money taken off the cost. I decided to keep them and pass the savings on to others. These are quality corks. They would retail for around $16 for 100 corks.
Thanks

Thanks for the clarification on the size. I forgot that we were dealing with both length and diameter.
OK, then based on the website you posted...

M.A. Silva offers nine natural cork grades ranging from near visually perfect visual appearance desired for ultra-premium wines through value priced corks intended for high volume labels...

I know you said these are "winery grade" corks. Is this one of their 9 grades, and if so, where does that fit in the scale between "visually perfect" and "value priced"?
Golddiggie, did you get the reply Forrest said you would get? I know Forrest does not spend as much time on the forums as he used to, so maybe you can answer my question.
Thanks.

Nothing specific as to the actual grade of the corks. "winery grade" simply doesn't cut it for me. At $16 for 100, those are CHEAP corks. Especially since other vendors I deal with sell "grade B" corks for about that rate. I'm more interested in the top grade corks. I picked up two 30 packs from the LHBS last night. I also got a bag (30 count) of "winery grade" corks that I'm not 100% sold on yet.
I'll keep a watch on the auction as it gets closer to the end. Chances are, though, I'll not be going after these. IMO, if I'm going to spend a year, or more, from when I start a batch before it's going into bottles and getting corked, I'm going to go with the best corks I can buy. I'm NOT about to cheap out on the corks, since that's a critical item here. I already have the balance of the synthetic corks that I'll probably never use. I really don't want to have ~500 corks hanging around that I need to find something else to use them for, since I might not like how they either go into the bottles, or how they actually look.
