Default Magnetic Magic Tap Handles are now available on our website

I don't know if you remember Theo's tap handle idea, but we've finally got it up on our website. We have two versions...a personalized version with up to 8 letters and 1 recessed insert and a non-personalized version with two recessed inserts. Each version comes with magnetic inserts in the handle and three spares for easy change outs.

In celebration of this new release, we're offering a very limited time special. For homebrewtalk members, use coupon code HBT2012 for 10% off your order. Thanks for all of the support.

Do you make the personalized magnets too, or do you sell chalkboard magnets with these?

We can make you personalized magnets, no problem. We have a pro quality laser printer. PM me or email me at john@bestbrewtap.com if you want to talk about that. I'll make you a heck of a deal if you'll post pix when you get them.

We hadn't thought of chalkboard magnets, but I like that idea a lot.

We just expected that everyone would want to make or print out their own graphics, cut them and put them into the clamshell. That's not been the feedback we've been getting lately, though. I really don't mind printing graphics.

I suspect I need to explain a bit what the inserts are and how they work.

Our clamshell inserts are made for coin collectors. They come as two halves that snap together. To make them magnetic, we include the awesome magnet you can see in the pictures. I sorted through a bunch of different clam shells before choosing these. Some distort images really badly, some scratch too easily, some aren't air/water tight, some can't be reopened without damaging them. I finally found perfect ones. I tried a bunch of different magnets too, until we found the nickel plated, neodymium magnets we use. They're extremely strong for their size, durable, won't tarnish and won't demagnetize over time like cheapo magnets. Why magnets in both the insert and handle? They not only keep the inserts solidly in place, they keep the inserts from spinning during use. To me, that's well worth the expense.

By now, you may have figured out that I'm an engineer. If I could just find a place to buy sapphire lenses...
