Default Introducing HomebrewNinja.com

We're thrilled to be a sponsor of HomebrewTalk.com and want to tell you how we hope to make homebrewing cheaper and easier for you.

HomebrewNinja.com is a website where you can compare prices from the major online homebrew suppliers. You can come tell us everything you need for the next time you brew and we'll tell you the best prices from four major retailers. Yup. For free. No surfing around or wondering. And you can save your shopping lists with us. As many as you want. Then next time you want to make that recipe again, you'll know where to shop in 3 clicks. 3 clicks.

Let's brew cheaply, so we can brew more.

Love the idea, but I'm getting this error when I hit search.

Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/jborn/homebrewninja.com/sls_fxns.php on line 269

EDIT: Can't seem to replicate the error, never mind!

Do you plan on adding more retailers?

Great concept. I got the same error when I entered an item, then added an empty row, then hit search.

When I deleted the 2nd blank row I was able to price my order.

Hmmm, i was hoping more for Froogle but for all homebrew things, not just ingredients...
I can see it being useful for people who get their ingredients online though, but being able to source everything locally as is the site doesnt help me unfortunately

For example i need to buy another 5255SS Perlick and it'd be nice to know which site has it cheapest...

I can't use the site. You need more error checking so people can search without constant SQL errors. Blank lines seem to do it. I tried leaving everything blank except for hopshot qty 1 and I get the following:

Quote:
Warning: PDOStatement::execute() [pdostatement.execute]: SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1048 Column 'cat_lvl3_id' cannot be null in /home/jborn/homebrewninja.com/database.class.php on line 53

Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/jborn/homebrewninja.com/sls_fxns.php on line 269
I think it's an interesting idea for people that buy ingredients for recipes individually. I personally buy ingredients in bulk and don't shop per recipe. The 'other' categories are pretty limited on what is in there.

I tried it out with 20 lbs of 2-row. It said Northern Brewer was my best bet for $29.80 plus $7.99 shipping. But, I can get it for $25.98 plus $5.99 shipping from GTG. Cool idea but needs work.

I also tried 4 ounces of Citra and the lowest price it found was Midwest for $9.98. Farmhouse sells 4 ounces packs for 6 bucks.

Well, the test run and lack of response doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in this venture.
