Default Homebrew Membership

I am thinking about starting a membership feature on Austin Homebrew Supply.

What features would you want to have with a Homebrew Store Membership?

I will be reading the responses but I may not be able to respond. I will be traveling in Iceland for about 2 weeks starting Saturday.

Thanks in advance for your input and support.

Forrest

From an online perspective, the only thing I can think of is reduced pricing, or one off contests. The only other thing, would be in the event of another ingredient crisis, relaxed ordering policies. There are a lot more options for your in-store customers, but that does not apply to me.

I think one lucky member should get to go to Iceland for two weeks...

I'm not sure what you could do.. limited discounts? Primary access to limited supply items? It's kind of hard to say I guess, especially as an online user.

charge around 15 bucks for a year membership. Members get 10% off purchases (obviously with some exceptions- concials etc.). Store contests would be nice. Maybe once or twice a year you could have judging. Winner of each category gets a free grain or beer toy or something

As I am sure you know (mostly saying this to keep the ideas feasible here ), creating a membership not only has to provide some benefit that the member finds of value, but has to be fiscally reasonable on your end. Giving every member 10% off on all orders would be awesome on our part, but may not be the best for you. As a member, I would be willing to shell out $20 a year if I have a fair to good chance of recouping some of that value back, and not necessarily in the strict financial sense. Little things like free ice packs on yeast, priority filling on orders, and possibly even less restricted access to limited availability items (can order 6oz instead of 2oz of a limited variety hop, or can get some hops without grain purchase for example) are things I would see as a great value that even if abused by a few I don't see placing a huge burden on you.

I would say that monthly drawings from the member pool for little things like free shipping on an order, 10% off, $25 gift card, an extra year of membership, etc. would be a great idea as well. The chance to win a little swag is always welcome on our end

How about offering "members" an extra 10% off when you have your 10% sales. As a TX resident, the 10% barely covers the tax. I'm not complaining. The sales are great. I buy stuff whenever you have one, but extra savings would entice me to pony up $ for a membership.

For clarification: We no longer have a limit on hops. Buy as much as you want.

In Texas, the ingredients aren't taxed. Equipment is taxed.

I was thinking of the following:

6 month memberships
3 free White Labs yeasts
6 free shipping for orders over $50 coupons
First dibs on Special sales.
An additional sale for members.

This is worth $68.91 just for the shipping and yeast savings. The yeast alone is worth $20.97

I was thinking $24.99.

If you make wine instead of beer, I can replace the yeast with corks.

This would be great. I make ~1 batch a month and would love to order fresh ingredients with each brew. I usually end up buying 2 months worth of stuff at at time because I would get killed with shipping if I didn't.

Any chance of the Wyeast? I love those smack packs.

Yeah, I was just throwing the hops thing out there as a recent example of a shortage of some kind, even though its a non-issue now, the promise if it happens again is allways nice.

But the 3 free yeast's are even better. I love that idea. Hell, that and the free shipping I think is enough. The sale's on top are just gravy. I would even be happy with that same scheme for a 12 month membership, but I won't complain about getting it every 6

I would pay $24.99 for that in a heartbeat
