I also munched the original o-rings when trying to fit it into my 525SS—and yes, I used keg lube. I recommend replacing the provided o-rings with Red Silicone O-Ring AS568A Dash Number 010 (McMaster#9396K15)

Additionally, if you want to turn this into a pressure filler (and who doesn’t as dropping keg pressure is a pain)--IM HBT member 'irrenarzt' and get a bottling complement. Dip the complement tube into some boiling water and it will fit over the end of Austin's Krome product (with a bit of elbow grease).

I just ordered one yesterday; hoping that the fit issues are due to batch variation and not a design flaw. Are those silicone o-rings less prone to fit issues/tearing?

I would pick up extra orings anyway, I tear them on occasion with the other fillers too if I'm hasty. Nothing like rushing to fill up and tearing these if you don't have backups! You just have to be real careful and use a touch of keg lube and wiggle them in. Some Perlicks have machining chaff around the lower parts of faucet that can be quite hostile, I've heard of guys touching these with a metal countersink bit to clean them up, then repassivating. Obviously, I have yet to do this. I'll bet the manufacturer made these to the exact spec of the faucet, but that manufacturing variables from In the faucet are the more likely culprit.

Got mine yesterday. Like others, I nearly tore the o-rings the first time. It barely fits, even without o-rings. Hopefully AHB will start supplying spare o-rings, but until then, I'll have to pick some up at McMaster (~$8 with shipping).

It seems nicely made, but the ID of the tubing and filler are too large to use this as a replacement for a beer gun. Bowie's bottler is probably the superior design.

sadly in a machine shop environment, i am reverse engineering this rather than supporting the original creator (no offense austin, as it sounds like you guys have someone doing the same thing as me).
I just spent some time jumping through measurements of my 525ss taps and o ring charts. I need this to "jump" in rather than force/break o rings. I am on the right track. it is not the 'wrong' oring they chose but the OD of the oring slot. anyone with calipers want to tell me the OD of the oring groove. Expecting I may not get help im moving on to the trial and error phase

Just going to add a few things here...

The growler filler sold by Austin is just that-a growler filler. The large diameter hose doesn't work too well for pressure bottling-I discarded mine after shipping. 1/4" ID tubing (as is sold with the complement-Tygon, etc) will fit the G.F. just fine. Dip in boiling water for 10 seconds, stretch with pliers and yer done.

For those munching orings: you are going to need replacements no matter which product you are using. IMHO, its not Austin's job to guarantee replacements. Being excellent at customer service means they always go above and beyond.

I had occasion to chamfer the edges of my perlicks and it worked really well. There is a small sharp ridge that remains from the manufacturing process. Use a countersink bit designed for metal and deburr the inside of the faucet. This will take a few seconds per faucet-no need to overdo it. Once done, oring failure rate will drop dramatically. ALWAYS use keg lube!

As a customer, I am loyal to what works and provides the best price. My dollars are agnostic-automatically finding the best product with the best efficiencies in cost, manufacturing, and logistics. Someone will always build a better mousetrap. The best product then-once performance is commodity-would be one you can actually get your hands on.

The growler filler can be turned into a bottle filler with a smaller hose, stopper, and length of SS tube.

For the record: I have no affiliations either way.

AHB, according to an email from them, is working with their vendor on a fix. Apparently Perlick changed something in the design of the 525SS that the newer models will not work with the current growler filler.

As far as AHB supplying O-rings, this should be a non issue once a correct size filler hits the street. I for one, don't think I should have to modify my faucets.

This doesn't mean you can't get it to work with an older or different model Perlick or R style of faucet. I would call and ask.

Well, I hope we can exchange them for the old ones. I've tried using it several times and the o-rings rip every time. The issue is definitely the filler size not the o-rings, lubing, wiggling, or the faucet...

On a customer service note..after I posted the issue on the forums AHS said they were going to send me new o-rings but I never received them.

The price is fairly high. It's advertised as a "plug-and-play" product and should function as such.

To the people deciding to buy or not, I would hold off until they get this fixed.

I was offered a refund or be placed on a list notifying me when they get redesigned fillers. I'm on the list hoping they ship me a new one.
