Controlled Sale Idea - What do you think?
|
|
I think it is about time to run a special sale event for the HBTers. It has been awhile since I have had one. Last time we were crushed under the weight of a ton of orders, and it caused a few complaints over our ability to get everything shipped out in a timely manner. Here is my ideas to help control the amount of orders that come in over the course of the day so that we can keep up a little better with the rush.
1. Allow a preset number of orders through in a day using the code and shut it off until the following day and repeat.
2. Allow the code to only be active for a preset time period and shut it off until the following day and repeat.
I am open to any other ideas as well. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Ed

Two thumbs up. Option 1 would probably allow for more control.

OR, an agreement that by using the special "HBTsale" code, we hereby forfeit the right to bitch at you!
It seems like we could have a choice- pay the regular price and/or actual shipping, and have the order moved to the front of the pile; or pay the discounted price and the Supersaver shipping, and be willing to wait.
I think I've done that with another online homebrew store. I normally don't mind waiting, but occasionally I need something sooner.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. If someone complains they always have the option of removing the discount.

+1 to YooperBrew's idea. I don't want to have to stay awake until 12:01am in order to get an order in.
Another idea is to do the sale by last name (i.e. A-D on one, E-I on day 2, etc.) I seem to remember another vendor on here (or maybe another site) doing something like this.
BMW - you've become my go-to online seller, keep up the good work.

Ed - firstly, thanks for your great service and prices. Rather than constrict the flow, why not try to temporarily scale up to meet the demand? I bet you could find several homebrewers in the area that would be willing to provide cheap labor and/or barter for a slightly bigger discount during the bonanza.

as long as you have open communication with your customers, I think people'll understand.

I was just about to suggest that. If increasing the work force would help the problem this would be good way to go.
