Compact 10 Plate Wort Chiller
Max flow rate to chill 210° to 68° = .5gpm
time to chill 5 gallons = About 10 minutes
Wort Chillers are a fast way to chill your wort to yeast pitching temperature to get your fermentation off to a quick and healthy start. This plate type heat exchanger, is a miniature version of the plate chillers that the pros use.
This model is made of 10 plates of 304 Stainless Steel that have been brazed together with 99.9%pure copper in an oxygen-free furnace. The chiller has small ripples up and down each plate. This creates more surface area for the wort to travel over and more time for the water to cool the wort down. More importantly the ripples on each plate create a turbulent flow, eliminating laminar flow to ensure the wort cools fast.
Wort Chillers use less water than conventional immersion or counterflow chillers. It is especially great for brewers in hot climates! These chillers have very low flow restriction, making them ideal for gravity feed and reducing the risk of plugging from hot break and hop fragments. Wort may be pumped or gravity fed through the chiller.
BENEFITS
Compact Size (7.5" x 2.9" x 3")
1/2" MPT on inlet and outlet
Low flow restriction for gravity feed applications
Easy to clean and sanitize
Saves water
Great value compared with less efficient counter flow chiller designs.

Amazing how they squeeze 30 plates into a 10 plate chiller.
Copy/Paste error?
That does seem like a deal, even with only 10 plates. I'm just building out a keggle and plan on doung 8-9 gallon batches. Would I be shooting myself in the foot if I got a 10 plate chiller as opposed to the 30? What do the extra plates get you; just faster chilling?

Well it takes at least 10 minutes (that is at optimum operation, i.e. 50-60 F tap water) for 5 gals. So about double that for your larger batches. Plus a pump is really desired to move the wort through the plate chiller, although gravity will work (slowly).
So, if you already have a IC, keep using it. Or step up and get the 30 plate (and pump if you don't have one).
But what are you really going to gain from all that investment? Maybe something if you lager often......

Well, I haven't tried my little IC in a keggle yet. Just sold the 36qt kettle and haven't converted the keg yet. So I am worried the IC will be too small to make a dent in that much wort.
Probably go with a bigger plate chiller or build a CFC.

I'd suggest buying a 30 plate chiller, worth the extra $$$ IMO.
Take a look at the image above on the bottom right side fitting, just to the left of it. It looks like the devil staring at you. I swear it's not a flashback to my younger days. LOL

Satan's Wort Chiller - Freezing Hell Over since '72!
I agree with the 30 plate being worth it over the 10, especially for the long road. But since a plate chiller is a CFC (just a spiffy surface area design), if you can find a nice CFC for half the prize, go for that.
Either way, its the temp of your tap water that really influences how well either one is going to work (your wort will always be a couple degrees over the tap water temp).

Yes copy /paste error - Thanks I have fixed the thread and the website. There are only 10 plates in the 10 plate chiller. Now does anyone know who is buried in Grant's Tomb?

For those size batches - I would recommend the 30 plate chiller for $72.

We can thank your "image of the devil" observation for making this 10 plate chiller a viral star on our website.
Personally I think it looks more like a skull but maybe we should have a "tag line" contest and give away a wort chiller as the prize.
